Having very similar problem, when friend connects I either crash OR we can play for about 2-3 minutes before he suddenly stops moving (on my screen) yet he still interacts with the environment around me and I can visibly see things he changes in the world (such as killing zombies) but cannot see him moving, his character sits in one place and does not move and yet he can still see me moving around like normal.
My graphics card is a NVidia GeForce GT 650M 1GB I tried changing the settings to the lowest and running in the lowest resolution, but nothing has helped. Additionally, every time I try to verify the integrity, Steam always says there's 1 file that needs to be re-downloaded that's 832 bytes. I have tried deleting Data0 and then verifying the integrity of game cache. This issue seems isolated to me and my friend. I have joined some other random players online and I haven't crashed after playing a few minutes. I don't believe it's my computer since I can run Skyrim and Borderlands 2 fine.
